What Does It Mean If My Grace Period is 30 Days

September 6th, 2010 | Author: Admin

grace period 30 daysGenerally, the interests of credit cards work as follows. Let’s assume that makes a purchase with your credit card on day 1, of the month 1, and its expiry date is the day 30 of each month (with the exception of the month of February which has 28 or 29 days).

By logic, if it has done a purchase with your credit card should pay interest from the day that made the purchase until the expiration date, right?

However, the bank does not charge interest if you pay in the due date and why? Because bank gives you a grace period of 30 days (in some cases is 25 days, in other 45, this different from bank to another bank, and locality in location).

Means that the bank allows you to make consumption with your credit card, interest-free, during that period of time (30 days according to our example), provided they pay the consumption of your credit card in the due date that appears in mind state.

Surely will be asking what happens if payment a day after? What is only a day of difference?

What happens in this case, is that loses the grace period that gives by your bank, and has to pay interest of their consumption since the day that made the purchase until the day that makes the payment.

In other words, loses the privilege that gives bank to pay 30 days after its consumption without charging you interest.

Now see this explaining about the previous example with a practical way:
If your payment date is the day 30 and decide to pay the next day, or the day 31 of the month 1, means that you have to pay interest on that purchase that conducted the day 1 of the month 1 to date that paying, or whether they must pay 31 days of interests. In this specific case, does not pay only 1 day of interests as thought, pays 30 more days 1 day of interests, or 31 days.

Once again, it’s recommended you talk about this with a representative from your bank, not all the banks apply the same period of grace. Don’t waste this privilege, take advantage!
